The great reformer Martin Luther understood the church as both a worldly institution, and the fellowship of Christ’s people.
Land, buildings, other assets and paid staff are part of the institutional life of the church and is one of the means (not the ends) by which the Spirit works in and through the church.
The Hunter Presbytery, through its ministry involving finance and property, provides oversight and expertise to congregations, and agencies, as they deploy assets and personnel in Christ’s mission in the world.
